After 21 years of the XJ-S, the XK8 marked a true return to form for Jaguar, bringing the marque back to the long, low and elegant grand touring shape that made it famous. But there was nothing scrawny about this cat. Beneath the long bonnet sits the intercooled, supercharged AJ-V8, producing 370 horsepower, and 387 lb-ft of torque available from just 3,600 rpm - thanks to the Eaton M112 supercharger. The result was blistering performance: 0–60 mph in just 5.4 seconds, and a quarter mile in just 13.6 seconds at 107 mph. With an extra 80 bhp over the XK8, the XKR became Jaguar’s first genuine supercar since the XJ220 - yet it remained a true Jaguar, delivering its pace with refinement through a superb, ultra-smooth five-speed automatic transmission.

The sentiment was clear. Styled by Keith Helfet and Fergus Pollock, the XK echoed Jaguar’s greatest shapes - E-Type-inspired curves, an oval grille, covered headlights and it's muscular haunches over the wheel arches. The XKR's success helped save Jaguar and drive their financial recovery in the late nineties: 1997, its first full year of production, a total of 14,929 examples were sold - more than 9,000 above the XJ-S' first launch. Today, the XKR remains one of the last great Jaguars: big, sleek, powerful and effortlessly composed on the open road.

This example has travelled just 83,300km and presents in superb mechanical and cosmetic condition. The underbody is spectacularly clean and rust-free, while the original coachwork and paintwork present beautifully.
